| University District Public Service Committee |
|
This committee focuses on improving municipal services related to code enforcement, refuse collection, recycling and street sweeping. Serving on the committee are representatives of the city's Public Service Department, Refuse Collection Division and Code Enforcement office; representatives of The Ohio State University; and permanent residents, students, and business and rental property owners. The committee normally meets every other month in the community meeting room of the Northwood-High Building, 2231 N. High Street. For information on the next committee meeting date, contact Campus Partners at (614) 294-7300. The City of Columbus has made substantive improvements in the delivery of municipal services in partnership with residents, property owners and agencies in the University District. The origins of the committee go back to Campus Partners' initial community planning initiative in 1995. The Campus Partners Public Service Committee was established in 1996 to improve refuse collection and street sweeping. The University District Code Enforcement Task Force was created in 1997 to focus on code enforcement issues. The two committees began to meet jointly in 2006 and formally merged as the University District Public Service Committee in early 2009. Pasquale Grado, executive director of the University Community Business Association, and Steve Sterrett, community relations director of Campus Partners, serve as co-chairs of the committee. Judy Johnson of the city's Refuse Collection Division serves as secretary. |
